There is definitely something missing in the music we’ve written. At least in the 8 songs that comprise “Session I”. The two songs at the end, pale & bright, and Books, Bones, The Confidante, are much closer. They are very emotional and they are where I want them to be musically. It’s the most mature music we have and the most “Original” sounding, to me.

The funny thing about Manchester orchestra, Death cab, and modest mouse is that all of their first records just sound like Built to Spill. such a severely underrated band that deserves way more credit.
I am so pumped that the next death cab for cutie record will be sappy and depressing. That’s what needed to happen.
